REDHILL BOWLING CLUB

RBC

News & Next Events

Redhill men are doing well in the Borough Pairs. Gary Parsons (playing with Steve Whiting) and Brian Gaunt & Fred Willey are through to the finals.

Our Border League schedule was completed on 14th August with a resounding 10-0 win for Redhill at Dorking. Final standings await the result of a delayed match and will be posted here shortly but Redhill should stay in Division 1.

Following The Warwick School summer term visits we have successfully applied for a grant from Active Surrey to set up a short mat satellite club at the school. We have received grant money and ordered the equipment. See Warwick School Satellite Club pages for more information.

Petanquers

Fun French Afternoon

Our first Petanque competition on 17th August involved 42 members and guests dressed in appropriate costume on 4 pitches laid out in the car park. 10 teams in two pools fought it out through the afternoon culminating in a rowdy final - see photo below of the final in progress. Winners were (l to r) Sam, Brian, Gary & Roger and the finalists - Michael, Marion, Tony & Karen. A tasty meal of continental meats, cheeses and desserts followed. Thanks to Barry for the organisation plus all the other helpers on the setting up and on the day.

Why don't you join a friendly local Bowls Club?

If you are new to bowls and thinking of playing outdoors do come along and see our facilities. Prospective and newer bowlers can join in taster sessions, roll ups or informal games any weekday - come any time after 2.30 p.m. but call the clubhouse on 01737 763404 just beforehand especially if you are arriving after 7.00 p.m. - if there is no response call Ralph on 07808 174060 or John on 07817 616161.

We can also provide coaching by appointment on other afternoons or evenings during the week. You will need some flat-soled shoes such as plimsoles/trainers. We will loan you some bowls so you can try out the sport before making any commitment.

You can then join at a special introductory rate of £45 for the first year - reducing pro rata through the season.

The full 2014 annual membership fee is £90 p.a. - reducing pro rata through the season. Junior Membership (under 25) is £20 p.a.

There are no further green fees.

Contact Ralph Wycherley Tel: 07808 174060
or e-mail: Ralph.wycherley@virgin.net

The Summer season starts at the end of April and ends in late September. New members can enjoy a "roll up" any afternoon or evening on weekdays - dress code is mufti but not jeans. On most weekends the green is used for matches against other clubs or club events.

We have two weekly games for newer bowlers - a fun “Drive” each Friday evening suitable for novices and a Tuesday Triples League afternoon match for those who have gained some experience - ideal for those wanting to play in the future for the Club in matches against other clubs; or in Club competitions; or just having a competitive game against other Club members.

We welcome all ages from 12 upwards (for young bowlers we have a designated Child Protection Officer).

There are also a number of social functions through the year and Social Membership costs £10 p.a. - this entitles you to play up to 5 times a year in social events or roll ups.

We are a private club and our facilities do not specifically cater for the severely disabled. We have a large car park and are conveniently located for public transport.
