News and Events Update

Work is complete on our replacement fence thanks to a £10,000 grant from Biffa Awards. Many thanks to them and all those who supported our application including Ron Searle, Head Teacher at The Warwick School, Crispin Blunt MP and Cllr Julian Ellacott. Warwick School students are now visiting regularly on Friday afternoons. Owen, Josh & Anthony are shown at our new gate.

Reigate & Banstead Borough Pairs draw is at RBC at 8 pm on Friday 29th May. All welcome.

We need a Green Steward for Thursday evenings once a fortnight. Speak to Monty if you can help. If you are visiting on a Thursday evening phone the Clubhouse first to check we are open.

Poem

An Ode to RBC

Why don't you join a friendly local Bowls Club?

If you are new to bowls and thinking of playing outdoors do come along during the season and see our facilities - ideally on a Monday evening; or another day by arrangement. After familiarisation with the sport newer bowlers can then join in further taster sessions, roll ups or informal games. Call the clubhouse on 01737 763404 just before your visit especially if you are arriving after 7.00 p.m. - if there is no response call Ralph on 07808 174060 or John on 07817 616161.

We are starting free Taster Sessions for school/college students on Friday afternoons from 24th April 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. - use the Contact Us button and request a Participation Form.

You will need some flat-soled shoes such as plimsoles/trainers. We will loan you some bowls so you can try out the sport before making any commitment.

We do not pressure people to join the club straight away Once you are certain the sport is for you then you can then join at a special introductory rate of £50 for the first year - reducing pro rata through the season. The full 2015 annual membership fee is £95 p.a. - reducing pro rata through the season. Junior Membership (under 25) is £20 p.a. but only £10 in your first season. There are no further green fees.

For more information contact Ralph Wycherley Tel: 07808 174060
or e-mail: Ralph.wycherley@virgin.net

The Summer season starts in April and ends in late September. New members can enjoy a "roll up" any afternoon or evening on weekdays - dress code is mufti but not jeans. On most weekends the green is used for matches against other clubs or club events.

We have two weekly games for newer bowlers - a fun “Drive” each Friday evening suitable for novices and a Tuesday Triples League afternoon match for those who have gained some experience - ideal for those wanting to play in the future for the Club in matches against other clubs; or in Club competitions; or just having a competitive game against other Club members.

We welcome all ages from 12 upwards (for young bowlers we have a designated Child Protection Officer).

There are also a number of social functions through the year and Social Membership costs £15 p.a. - this entitles you to play up to 5 times a year in social events or roll ups.

We are a private club and our facilities do not specifically cater for the severely disabled. We have a large car park and are conveniently located for public transport.

More about the Club

Affliated to:- Bowls England,Surrey County Bowling Association, London and Southern Counties Bowling Association. We are a friendly outdoor lawn bowls club founded in 1895 that caters for men and women of all ages and abilities. We play competitive matches in the Border League and the North Downs Mixed Triples League plus friendly fixtures with local clubs and hold internal competitions. Matches are from April through to September. We have a purpose-built clubhouse with terrace overlooking the green. An enjoyable evening can be spent with a drink from the bar, watching the bowls from the terrace with a back drop of the North Downs in the distance. There is a large car park next to the green.
